I had not intended to do this, but I got a nudge from God back in January 2024. It was to offer to write on the Bible verses posted on Ruhamah United Methodist Church Facebook page. I contacted my friend and cousin Tami, and offered to do it. It began simply like that.
Ruhamah has a long history because in 2022, we celebrated our 200th anniversary of our beginning as a church. It was a log cabin in those days. In 1876 a white clapboard church was built. In 1976-77 we built our present building. When I saw we, I mean we. The church hired professionals to do the jobs they needed to do, but the members of that church build that church. One year after we had our first service on Resurrection Day, the church building was paid for. Ruhamah originally stood on a hill beside the Savannah River, and now is on a cove on Hartwell Lake.
We are faith filled church, and we believe strongly in the power of prayer. Each Sunday we openly ask for prayer for people we know need aid. It is in many ways our mission. We are small but we love Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ever in Christ’s Love,
Mary Elizabeth Todd
